Last night I became tired of installing software onto the machines here. I was running several Apple installers in a row, and in between the machine would reboot and I would have to come back to set up the next installation.
This frustration inspired the MultiInstall hack. Here's how to use it:
1. Put the MultiInstall folder (which must be named "MultiInstall folder" on your desktop.
2. Fill the folder "Items to Install" enclosed therein with aliases to the installers you want to run.
3. Run the MultiInstall script.
4. Wait while it reboots and runs the installers. It will use sophisticated OkOkOk technology to answer the installers' questions.
Don't put the "OK, Install" extension into your system folder. The script takes care of putting it in and taking it out when it's done.
"OK, Install" isn't designed for interactive use. To keep it from being really annoying, it disables itself when you press a key or the mouse button. So if you click or type during an installation, you get to finish that installation manually. If you want to stop installing, throw away the "MultiInstall" alias in your startup items folder, and the copy of "Ok, Install" in your extensions folder.
